PHIL BAIN, SCORE Certified Mentor, has been advising business owners in Valparaiso for more than 20 years. As a business and marketing professional, his years of experience have benefited countless entrepreneurs and business owners. Phil has served as chair of the Northwest Indiana Chapter, and continues to offer one-on-one assistance to those interested in starting-up or improving their business.
SCORE's mentors, comprised of active and retired business men and women, provide clients with free and confidential business counseling. Counseling can be conducted at the client's place of business, at our chapter headquarters, by telephone or via email

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LEGAL EXPERT to SPEAK
Cori Mathis has been an attorney for 13 years. She is licensed to practice law in Indiana and Illinois and has an office in Merrillville. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for her undergraduate studies and then attended DePaul University College of Law. She concentrated her studies during law school on business law, intellectual property, and contract law, and those areas of law have been her focus throughout her career. She is particularly interested in helping entrepreneurs and businesses identify, protect, and maximize their intangible assets through intellectual property protection and contract rights. She routinely files Federal and state trademark applications and copyright applications, identifies trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets that clients did not realize they had, represents clients in domain name disputes, develops privacy policies and disclaimers for websites, prepares and defends cease and desist letters, and negotiates a wide variety of agreements on behalf of her clients, including license agreements, distribution agreements, and independent contractor agreements. She is chairman of the social media committee of the Women Lawyer’s Association of Indiana, chairman of the hospitality committee of “e”- Engaging Northwest Indiana Business Women, and a member of the Lake County and Indiana State Bar Associations. She lives in Dyer with her husband and two children.
